Bigger isn't always better. For an eatery that knows less can be more, check out Cafe D'Art. Run by a guy who's handled the chaos of big, glammed-out venues like Mia downtown, Roy Roig decided it was time for something more intimate. And Café D'Art was born. It's a candle-lit Tapas/Cuban spot that oozes bohemian-ness via a chunky wooden bar, hanging sculptures, and a quaint shaded outdoor garden with seating for those who want to take their cocktail or Cuban Coffee outdoors.

They serve up the “kind of food you'd get when you visit your Cuban girlfriend's parents”. Tapas include Fried Garbanzo Beans sauteed with bits of sausage, onion, and garlic, and Assorted Meats (prosciutto, sweet ham, roasted pork & chorizo cantimpalo), while for larger platters it’s Shrimp Creole, plus sandwiches like the classic Cuban with two-day-marinated roasted pork adobado, and a similar sandwich called the Medianoche (served on a sweet bread) so named because it was historically served around midnight.

There's also sweet stuff like house-made Flan and Arroz con Leche, Cuban Coffees and Cortaditos made with coveted Cafe Negro (a pungent strong roast from Cuba you can't buy in stores). For something refreshing, try a “Mom's Famous Shake” made with condensed milk and chopped fresh fruit like mango, mamey, papaya, or banana. And for something to unwind, there is a long list of wines and champanges by the glass. Cafe D'Art...the art of "less is more".
