Miami's Brickell area, a thriving residential hub brimming with young professionals, only needed an informal neighborhood watering hole for relaxing with friends and marveling at the Miami skyline. The stunning JB Kitchen and Bar IS that friendly gastropub. Formerly Badrutt’s Place, it's owned by a family behind an exclusive St. Moritz resort. They haven’t changed but the space has. It sports a spacious dining room with a massive square bar featuring flat screen TV’s and a daily happy hour with half-priced drinks and appetizers. The VIP section is gone, but posh white leather banquettes, sea blue walls and polished wood floors are sleek and inviting.

The kitchen, specializing in painlessly-priced, Peruvian-tinged comfort food, is headed by Chefs Frederick Kelly, formerly of Michael’s Genuine Food and Drink, and Jeremy Fernandez, whose background includes the Forge. Ceviches shine here, spiked with orange juice instead of lemon for a less tart, fresh flavor, and Spinach/Artichoke Dip with crisp Wonton Chips makes a fine bar snack. But nothing's more decadently satisfying than Lobster Mac and Cheese! Delicious Burger and Sandwich choices include braised Short Rib with caramelized onions and Fontina cheese on a baguette. Peruvian staple Lomo Saltado (Filet Mignon Tips sautéed with onion, garlic and tomatoes), and Carmelized Jumbo Sea Scallops dressed with shaved fennel and blood orange vinaigrette are two of the fabulous entrees. For dessert, try classic Crème Brulee or Molten Chocolate Cake, or sip a fruity cocktail, like the Watermelon Mint Cucumber Margarita made with tequila, triple sec, mint-infused simple syrup and muddled cucumber, instead. JB Kitchen is the ultimate upscale yet casual pub.
