Literally "Flying Pizza", Pizzavolante is a super-casual, Roman-style pizzeria and mozzarella bar in the blossoming Miami Design District. Since opening in 2009, it''s quickly become a neighborhood favorite, as noted in the New York Times! The innovative menu includes crispy, wood oven-fired Pizzas, classic pannini, impeccably simple pasta dishes and fresh local and Italian Mozzarellas, complemented by a fantastic list of 18 wines, all under $18!

The small industrial space boasts great music and a cool vibe and offers delicious, inexpensive food and drink all day and night, making it the hang-out for locals, students, and savvy tourists. Chef/Owner Jonathan Eismann has used the same secret recipe for his famous pizza dough since his New York days, back when a nineteen year-old Bobby Flay worked for him! Long communal tables and stem-less wine glasses add to the laid-back, funky atmosphere, where Pizza is King! But the plump Calzone is just as royal! In fact, Miami New Times named their Brooklynese Calzone one of its 100 Favorite Dishes: "Eating a freshly wood oven fired Brooklynese Calzone from Pizzavolante is an awesomely cheesy, meatily smokey, basiley fresh, table top premium olive oiled, pile of hot pepper flakes added and, mini bucket of red sauced doused experience that is truly enjoyable."
